The Attorney General Office announced on Thursday that the retrial of a suspect accused of killing protesters during the 2013 Gharghour events in Tripoli will begin on July 1, 2025.
According to the statement, the Public Prosecution had filed a criminal case in 2016 against the suspect, who was involved in the fatal shooting of protesters.
The Tripoli Court of Appeals began reviewing the case that year but was forced to halt proceedings after the defendant fled.
In response, the prosecution issued an arrest warrant and ordered surveillance of the suspect’s movements.
Following the arrest, the prosecution notified the court, which scheduled the new trial date, renewing arrest orders for the remaining wanted individuals connected to the case.
